TRON LEGANCY 2011

In 1989, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), an innovative software engineer and the CEO of ENCOM International, disappears. Twenty years later, his son, Sam (Garrett Hedlund), who became ENCOM's controlling shareholder after his father's disappearance, takes little interest in the company besides an annual practical joke on the board of directors. Sam is visited by his father's friend and ENCOM executive Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner), who urges Sam to investigate a mysterious page originating from Flynn's old arcade. While exploring the decrepit arcade, Sam discovers a concealed computer laboratory and unintentionally transports himself to the Grid, a virtual world inside the computer.

Sam is captured and taken to the game arena, where he is pitted against Rinzler, the champion of the games. During their duel, Rinzler notices that Sam is not a Program, but rather a User. Rinzler takes Sam before Clu, a digital copy of Kevin Flynn, who rules over the Grid. Clu nearly kills Sam in a Light Cycle match before Quorra (Olivia Wilde) rescues him. Taken to a distant, off-grid hideout in the "Outlands," Sam is reunited with his father.

Flynn explains that he had been working on a new, "perfect" system and had appointed Clu as its creator. After much work, Flynn discovered a new series of sentient "isomorphic algorithms" (ISOs), self-produced Programs that carried the potential to unlock mysteries in science, religion, and medicine. Clu considered these Programs to be an imperfection and, in keeping with his directive to "create the perfect system", betrayed Flynn and had the ISOs wiped out. Flynn also revealed that while he hid from Clu, who had ambitions to reach the real world, the portal back to the real world had closed, and he became a captive inside his own creation until Sam re-opened it from the outside.

Resolving to make it back to the real world where he would be able to delete Clu, Sam makes his way back onto The Grid to find a Program named Zuse, who he believes can provide safe passage to the portal. The End of Line Club owner, Castor (Michael Sheen), reveals himself to be Zuse and, instead of helping Sam, betrays him to Clu's guards. Though Flynn and Quorra arrive just in time to help Sam escape, Quorra is grievously wounded and Zuse gains possession of Flynn's identity disc. Knowing the disc works as a master key to The Grid, Zuse attempts to use it to bargain with Clu, but Clu simply takes it and destroys the club. Flynn and Sam save the injured Quorra and stow away aboard a freighter heading towards the portal. While Flynn heals Quorra, he reveals her to be the last surviving ISO.

The three unexpectedly arrive at a station aboard a massive warship and encounter Rinzler. As Quorra attempts to distract him, Flynn recognizes Rinzler as a reprogrammed Tron (who was believed to have been killed by Clu while defending Flynn). Elsewhere on the ship, Clu addresses his army, expressing his desire to enter the real world and "perfect" it. Sam saves Quorra from Rinzler and reclaims Flynn's disc. The trio then commandeer an aerial shuttle and escape, but Clu, Rinzler and several guards pursue them in Light Jets. Between Quorra's evasive flying and Sam manning the rear turret, the three manage to shoot down the guards. As Rinzler moves to destroy the shuttle, he makes eye contact with Flynn and suddenly regains his true identity as Tron. Declaring, "I fight for the Users," Tron deliberately collides with Clu's Light Jet and sends the two Programs falling. Clu wrestles away Tron's spare baton and creates another Light Jet, flying off to the portal. Tron falls into the Sea of Simulation, where his armor reverts to its original blue color.

Sam, Flynn and Quorra finally reach the portal, only to find Clu blocking their path. After attempting to reason with Clu, Flynn sacrifices himself to end the impasse, pulling Clu toward him and causing the two to merge, while Sam and Quorra use Flynn's disc to travel through the portal back to the real world. Flynn and Clu merge, causing a massive explosion that destroys the portal.

Back in the basement of Flynn's arcade, Sam backs up the system onto his flash drive and powers it off. He then meets Alan and tells him that he will start working at ENCOM, and, as the controlling interest shareholder, he will name Alan chairman of the board. Quorra meets Sam outside, and the two take off on his motorcycle. The movie ends with Sam showing Quorra the sunrise she has longed to see.

The Tourist (2010 film) ANGELINA JOLIE, JOHNNY DEPP

Posted by Deepak 7:06 PM, under | No comments

A woman named Elise (Jolie) is being trailed in Paris by French police working with Scotland Yard. At a cafe, she receives a letter from Alexander Pearce, a former lover, with explicit directions to board a train to Venice, Italy, pick out a man who resembles him and make the police believe that this man is Alexander Pearce. A mysterious stranger, not involved with the police, also seems to be watching Elise. Elise burns the letter and boards a train.

She takes a seat beside Frank (Depp), an American tourist reading a spy novel. Frank is instantly attracted to her. The train arrives in Venice, and they take a boat to the Hotel Danieli. At dinner, much to Frank's dismay, Elise admits to having feelings for another man, presumably Alexander Pearce. They share a kiss, witnessed by the men following her.

The next day, Frank awakens to find Elise gone. Men suddenly try to break into the hotel room. Frank barely escapes but is caught by the Italian police. A sympathetic detective listens to Frank's story that he does not know why these men are after him. He takes Frank from the jail and tells him that his story checks out, and that the men after him were Belarusians who have placed a prize on his head and who believe Frank to be someone else. The detective however then delivers Frank into the clutches of these same men, in order to collect the money they promised.

Elise appears suddenly to rescue Frank, fleeing on a boat. Elise finally tells Frank that all this is happening because she kissed him and made the police believe that he was Alexander Pearce. Frank learns that Pearce stole two billion from a gangster named Shaw (Berkoff) and is wanted by the British Government for tax evasion. Stunned by the news, Frank says he still does not regret kissing Elise.

Elise apologizes for getting him involved at all and tricks Frank off the boat. Frank says he loves her. Elise goes to a government building. She turns out to be a secret agent for Britain. She sees her fellow British agent Acheson (Bettany), who was among those following her in Paris. Elise was supposed to work undercover against Pearce but fell in love with him and had disappeared from her job until now. She tells Acheson that she is ready to help him find Pearce now because she wants to prevent anybody else from getting hurt.

Elise goes to a ball Pearce has invited her to attend, wearing a wire. She is handed a letter by the same mysterious stranger from Paris. The letter is from Pearce, saying where to meet him. As Elise turns to leave, Frank is standing in front of her. They dance. Elise leaves to find Pearce and agent Acheson's men apprehend Frank. They both watch on surveillance equipment as Elise walks into a trap set by the gangster Shaw. The gangster threatens to kill her unless she returns the money Pearce stole from him. Agent Acheson doesn't help his colleague Elise, confident that Pearce will show up to rescue her.

Elise reveals the safe's location but does not know its code. Frank watches in horror as Elise is threatened yet again. Seeing that Acheson won't help Elise, Frank picks the lock to his handcuffs and escapes to help her. Frank pretends to be Pearce. Elise begs him to stop or he will be killed. Frank, acting as Pearce, tells Shaw that he will get his money but only if Elise is first released and safe. As Frank pretends that he is about to open the safe, Elise mouths "I love you."

All of a sudden, Chief Inspector Jones (Dalton) gives the order for the police snipers to shoot Shaw and his men. Frank and Elise are unharmed. As the police survey the scene, agent Acheson can't believe that Pearce did not save Elise and Jones is furious with him for exposing her to danger. Jones then informs Elise that she has been terminated from the force. A police report informs them that Pearce has just been caught. As the room clears, Elise and Frank embrace. He asks her if she loves both him and Alexander Pearce. Elise answers yes. To spare her from this dilemma, Frank reveals that he is the real Alexander Pearce by entering the correct code for the safe. Pearce had gotten plastic surgery, so he could have a new life.

The arrested man believed to be Pearce explains to police that he was paid to pretend and that he is just a tourist. Elise and Frank/Pearce leave on a boat with the money, finally being able to be together. In the safe, police find a bankers check for the ₤744 million in back taxes Pearce owed the British government.

The Karate Kid (Jackie Chan)

Posted by Deepak 5:19 PM, under | No comments

12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) and his mother, Sherry (Taraji P. Henson) move to Beijing from West Detroit to start a new life. Dre develops a crush on a young violinist, Mei Ying (Wenwen Han), who reciprocates his attention, but Cheng (Zhenwei Wang), a kung fu prodigy whose family is close to Mei Ying's, attempts to keep them apart by beating Dre, and later proceeds to bully him in and around school. After a field trip to the Forbidden City, Dre encounters Cheng and his friends hanging out close to his apartment. Dre tries to pass by without them seeing him. When he finds a bucket of polluted water, Dre gets revenge by splashing the water around Cheng and his friends. Cheng and the others pursue and catch Dre, beating him. During the brutal attack, the enigmatic maintenance man of Dre's building, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), comes to Dre's aid, revealing himself as a kung fu master who dispatches Dre's tormentors.

After Han mends Dre's injuries using fire cupping, Dre asks if Mr. Han could teach him Kung-Fu. Han refuses, but decides to meet Cheng's teacher, Master Li (Yu Rongguang), to make peace. Li, who teaches his students to show no mercy to their enemies, challenges Dre to a fight with Cheng. When Han declines, Li says they will not be allowed to leave his school unless Dre or Han fights. Han acquiesces, but insists the fight take place at an upcoming tournament, and that Li's students leave Dre alone until the tournament. Li agrees, but tells Han that if Dre does not show up during the tournament he will bring pain to Han and Dre.

Dre is shocked when Han tells him that he will fight in a kung fu tournament. Han promises to teach Dre real kung fu. Han begins training Dre, but Dre is frustrated that Han merely has Dre spend hours taking off his jacket, hanging it up, dropping it, and then putting it back on again. After days of this, Dre refuses to continue until Han demonstrates that the repetitive arm movements were Han's method of teaching Dre martial arts techniques, which Dre displays instinctively when prompted by Han's mock attacks. Han emphasizes that the movements Dre is learning apply to life in general, and that serenity and maturity, not punches and power, are the true keys to mastering the martial arts. During one lesson in the Wudang Mountains, Dre notices a female kung fu practitioner apparently copying the movements of a cobra before her, but Han informs him that it was the cobra that was imitating the woman, as in a mirror reflection. Dre wants Han to teach him this technique, which includes linking Han's hand and feet to Dre's via bamboo shafts while practicing their forms, but Dre's subsequent attempt to use this reflection technique on his Mom is unsuccessful.

As Dre's friendship with Mei Ying continues, Dre persuades Mei Ying to cut school for a day of fun, but when she is nearly late for her violin recital her parents deem him a bad influence and forbid her from spending more time with him. When Dre finds Han despondent and breaking the car he had in his living room, Dre learns that it is the anniversary of Han's wife and son's deaths, which occurred when he lost control of the car due to anger caused from an argument he was having with his wife. Dre reminds Han that one of his lessons was in perseverance, and that Han needs to heal from his loss. Han assists Dre in reading a note, in Chinese, of apology to Mei Ying's father, who allows Mei to attend the tournament.

At the tournament, the under-confident Dre is slow to achieve parity with his opponents, but soon begins beating them and advances to the semifinals, as does Cheng, who violently finishes off his opponents. Dre comes up against Liang, another of Li's students, who is instructed by Li to break Dre's leg. When Liang insists that he can beat Dre, Li sternly tells him that he does not want him beaten, but broken. Although Liang is disqualified for his illegal strikes, Dre is incapacitated.

Despite Han's insistence that he has earned respect for his performance in the tournament, Dre convinces Han to mend his leg in order to continue the tournament. Dre returns to the arena, facing Cheng. Dre delivers impressive blows, but Cheng counters with a strike to Dre's injured leg. Dre struggles to get up, and attempts the reflection technique to manipulate Cheng's movements. Cheng charges Dre, but Dre flips and catches Cheng with a kick to his head, winning the tournament along with the respect of Cheng and his classmates.

The Green Hornet (2011 film)

Posted by Deepak 5:07 PM, under | No comments

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the 28-year-old slacker son of widower James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), publisher of the Los Angeles newspaper The Daily Sentinel. Britt is an irresponsible playboy, but his attitude changes when James is found dead from an allergic reaction to a bee sting. After the funeral, Britt fires the staff aside from his maid and Kato (Jay Chou), James' mechanic and a skilled martial artist.

Britt and Kato get drunk together and, upon agreeing that they both hated James, visit the graveyard to cut the head off James' memorial statue as payback. After they succeed, they see a couple being mugged, and rescue them. Britt and Kato are themselves mistaken by police for criminals and chased through the streets, but Kato evades them and he and Britt return to the mansion.

Britt convinces Kato they should become crime-fighters who pose as criminals in order to infiltrate real criminals, and also to prevent enemies from using innocents against them. Kato agrees, and develops a car outfitted with several gadgets and weapons, which they call the Black Beauty. Britt plans to capture Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz), a Russian mobster who is uniting the criminal families of Los Angeles under his command, and whom his father was trying to expose. To get Chudnofsky's attention, Britt uses the Daily Sentinel as a vehicle to publish articles about the "high-profile criminal" the Green Hornet.

Britt hires Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), who has a degree in criminology, as his assistant and researcher, and uses her unwitting advice to raise the Green Hornet's profile. Britt and Kato blow up several of Chudnofsky's meth labs, leaving calling cards so Chudnofsky can contact them. Throughout all this, Daily Sentinel managing editor Mike Axford (Edward James Olmos) fears this single-minded coverage will endanger Britt's life, and District Attorney Frank Scanlon (David Harbour) frets over public perception that he cannot stop the Green Hornet.

Britt asks Lenore out, but she rebuffs him and instead invites Kato to dinner, making Britt jealous. Kato learns from her that mobsters often offer a peace summit to rivals in order to get close enough to kill them; Britt then tells Kato that Chudnofsky has offered them such a meeting. Kato tries dissuading him, but Britt, feeling overshadowed, follows his instincts. This nearly proves fatal when Chudnofsky tries to kill them.

Barely escaping to the mansion, Britt and Kato argue and fight, and Britt fires both Kato and Lenore, whom he believes are in a relationship. Kato receives an email from Chudnofsky on the Hornet's calling-card email address, offering $1 million dollars and half of Los Angeles if he kills Britt. Meanwhile, Britt discovers Scanlon is corrupt, learning that he tried to bribe James into downplaying the level of crime in the city to help his career.

Scanlon invites Britt to meet in a restaurant, where he reveals he murdered Britt's father. Kato arrives, and instead of killing Britt, he attacks Chudnofsky's men, allowing him and Britt, whom Chudnofsky deduces is the real Green Hornet, to escape. They head to the Daily Sentinel, where Britt intends to upload a recording of Scanlon's confession onto the Web — and belatedly discovers he did not manage to record it. Chudnofsky and his men follow the duo there, where a firefight ensues. Kato ultimately stabs Chudnofsky in the eyes in self-defense and Britt shoots him to death. A SWAT team appears and fires at the Green Hornet and Kato, while they use the remains of their nearly demolished Black Beauty to run Scanlon out the 10th-floor window, killing him. The Green Hornet and Kato flee to Lenore's house, where she learns their secret identities and that she has been the accidental mastermind behind the Green Hornet's plots. Despite being furious, she helps them hide from the police and tends to Britt's shoulder gunshot wound.

The next morning, Britt promotes Axford to editor-in-chief and stages being shot in the shoulder by Kato, further establishing the Green Hornet as a threat (and allowing Britt to get treated by professionals in a hospital). Later, the two weld James' stolen bust back onto his memorial statue. Now with Lenore to aid them, Britt and Kato vow to continue protecting the law by breaking it.

THE Chronicles of Narnia the voyage of the dawn treader (Walt Disney)

Posted by Deepak 5:01 PM, under | No comments

One year after the events of Prince Caspian, Lucy and Edmund Pevensie are staying with their cousin Eustace Scrubb, while Susan and Peter are in America. When water pours from a painting of a ship on the ocean hanging in Lucy’s bedroom, Lucy, Edmund and Eustace are transported into an ocean in Narnia.

They are rescued by the ship from the painting. Its crew includes Caspian and Reepicheep, as well as a small number of Narnians, including two minotaurs named Tavros and Jemain. Caspian informs them they are on the Dawn Treader. Three years have passed, Caspian has brought peace between Narnia, Galma, Archenland, and Calormen, and now he seeks the seven Lords of Narnia whom his uncle Miraz banished when he usurped the Narnian throne.

They visit the Lone Islands, a Narnian colony invaded by Calormen. They soon learn that the inhabitants have lived a miserable life on the islands, with dozens of pirates guarding them and selling many for slaves. Caspian and Edmund are captured and imprisoned while Lucy and Eustace are sold as slaves. Caspian meets one of the lost lords, Lord Bern, who reveals that those who cannot be sold are sacrificed to a mysterious green mist. The Dawn Treader crew rescues them, killing Pug, Governor Gumpas, and all their men, and they reclaim the Lone Islands from the Calormenes. Bern gives Caspian one of the seven swords originally given to the lords. Later, it was discovered that Gael, the young daughter of one of Caspian's men, has stowed away aboard the ship, but is recently accepted by the crew.

At another island Lucy is abducted by invisible Dufflepuds who force her to enter the manor of Coriakin to recite a visibility spell from his Book of Incantations. Lucy rips out a page that contains a beauty incantation before reciting the visibility spell, making Coriakin and the Dufflepuds visible. Coriakin explains that he cast the invisibility spell to protect the Dufflepuds from the mist, and informs the crew that they must defeat the mist by laying the seven swords of the lost Lords at Aslan's Table on Ramandu's Island, which they can reach by following a blue star. While journeying Lucy casts the beauty incantation, transforming into Susan. She finds herself at a party with Edmund and Peter, who recognize her as Susan and do not know of Lucy or Narnia. Realizing she no longer exists as Lucy, she awakens from the vision of the party returned to her normal self. Aslan reveals himself through a mirror, reminding Lucy not to doubt herself and explaining that her siblings only know of Narnia because of her.

The crew visits a volcanic island. Edmund, Lucy and Caspian discover a pool that can turn anything into gold, including Lord Restimar. Edmund and Caspian fight each other over who should own the pool, but Lucy warns them that they are being tempted. Eustace discovers a treasure that he begins stealing. While Edmund and Caspian look for Eustace they discover Lord Octesian's skeleton. A dragon attacks the Dawn Treader and abducts Edmund. The dragon has made fire on the ground forming the words "I AM EUSTACE". The Pevensies, Caspian, Reepicheep, and a few crew members spend the night on shore keeping Eustace company. Reepicheep comforts Eustace, who helps everyone the next day, after Gael spots the blue star.

The crew arrive at Ramandu's Island and discover Aslan’s Table with three lost lords asleep around it. As they place the swords on the table they realise one is still missing. The star descends from the sky and turns into a beautiful young woman; Lilliandil, Ramandu's daughter. She guides them to the location of the last sword; the Dark Island, lair of the mist. The crew voyages to the island and discovers Rhoop, the last surviving Lord. Rhoop warns them not to think of their fears but Edmund fails, his fear manifesting as a sea serpent that attacks the ship. Betraying the group, Rhoop throws his sword at Eustace, stabbing him. Eustace flies away, landing on a sandy island and encountering Aslan, who transforms him back into a boy and sends him to Ramandu's island with Rhoop's sword. The mist tries distracting Edmund by appearing as Jadis, the White Witch. Eustace overcomes the mist as it tries to restrain him, and puts Rhoop's sword on the table, awaking the three sleeping lords and destroying the mist; the sea serpent dies and the sacrificed people, including Gael's mother, reappear.

Eustace rejoins Lucy, Edmund, Caspian and Reepicheep and they sail to a sea covered in lilies, eventually finding a shore before a massive wave. Aslan appears to them and tells them that His country lies beyond, although if they go they may never return. Reepicheep decides to enter, and Aslan blesses him before he paddles a coracle above the wave. Aslan opens a portal in the wave to send Lucy, Edmund and Eustace home, telling them that Lucy and Edmund will never return to Narnia. Aslan encourages them to know Him in their world by another name, and tells Eustace that he may return. Edmund and Lucy bid farewell to Caspian and Aslan before entering the portal with Eustace. The three are returned to the bedroom at Eustace's house.

Eustace is being called by his mother as Jill Pole comes to visit and the three watch the painting as the ship disappears behind the waves.

NARNIA PRINCE CASPIAN WALT DISNEY MOVIE

Posted by Deepak 4:11 PM, under | No comments

1,300 years after the Pevensie siblings left Narnia, a Telmarine prince, Caspian, is awakened by his mentor Doctor Cornelius, informing him that his aunt, Prunaprismia, has given birth to a son and Caspian's life is endangered. Cornelius gives him Queen Susan's ancient magical horn, instructing him to blow it only at his greatest need. Knowing that his uncle, Miraz, would kill him to steal the kingship, Caspian flees. Pursued into the woods, Caspian hits a branch and falls off his horse. He is rescued by two Narnian dwarfs, Trumpkin and Nikabrik, and a talking badger named Trufflehunter. While Trumpkin acts as a decoy, Nikabrik saves Caspian. Confused, Caspian blows the horn to summon help.

In England, one year has passed since the Pevensie children returned from Narnia. En route to their boarding school, the London Underground station they are in collapses and the Pevensies are transported to Narnia. They discover the ruins of Cair Paravel and realize it was attacked.

In the Telmarine castle, the lords of the council learn that Prince Caspian is gone. Lord Sopespian blames Miraz, but Miraz blames the Narnians and tells the lords to fight them to get Caspian back, though Miraz actually intends to kill Caspian.

The Pevensies save Trumpkin from being drowned by two Telmarines; he quickly realizes that the four children are the Kings and Queens of Old and they continue on together. On the way, Lucy glimpses Aslan and tries to convince the others that she has seen him, but only Edmund believes her.

Nikabrik and Trufflehunter lead Caspian to the Dancing Lawn, where the old Narnians have assembled. Caspian convinces them to help him win his throne so he can return their land. Caspian and the Narnians steal weapons from the Telmarines. They also encounter the Pevensies and Trumpkin; they all journey to Aslan's How, a huge barrow built over the Stone Table. Peter decides they will preemptively attack Miraz's castle. Lucy suggests waiting for Aslan to return, but Peter thinks they have waited long enough.

The Narnians raid Miraz’s castle, but Peter calls a retreat when he realizes they are being overwhelmed by Telmarine soldiers. Peter, Susan, Edmund, Caspian, and half of the Narnians manage to escape, but the rest are slaughtered. When they return to Aslan's How, Peter and Caspian argue about the attack on the castle. Back at the castle, Miraz is crowned King of Narnia.

Nikabrik, with the aid of a hag and a werewolf, tells Caspian that they can help him claim his throne and guarantee Miraz's death. However Nikabrik tricks Caspian and the hag uses black sorcery to summon Jadis, the White Witch. From inside a wall of ice, the White Witch tries to convince Caspian to free her with a drop of blood. Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Trumpkin arrive. Edmund kills the werewolf and Trumpkin stabs Nikabrik just as he is about to kill Lucy. Peter kills the hag and then, seeing Caspian being manipulated by the White Witch, knocks him down and faces the White Witch. She quickly begins convincing Peter to release her. Before he can do anything, Edmund shatters the ice, destroying the White Witch.

As Miraz and his army arrive at Aslan's How, Caspian suggests Peter and Miraz duel one-on-one under the condition of surrender, to buy Lucy and Susan time to find Aslan. Miraz agrees to the duel, not wanting to look like a coward in front of his men. The girls are spotted by Telmarine soldiers, so Susan sends Lucy off alone, remaining behind to face the soldiers. A soldier on a horse runs into her, knocking her down. She is rescued by Caspian and they return to the battle. After a fierce fight, Peter defeats Miraz, but gives his sword to Caspian to finish him off. Caspian spares Miraz's life but says that he will give Narnia back to its people.

Glozelle kills Miraz with one of Susan's arrows and accuses the Narnians of shooting Miraz, leading to a battle between the Telmarines and the Narnians, with the Telmarines gradually winning. Lucy finds Aslan in the woods and he awakens the trees. The battle turns as the trees attack the Telmarines. Lord Sopespian orders retreat to a bridge, where they are confronted by Lucy and Aslan. Aslan summons the river god, who destroys the bridge, killing Sopespian. The battle is won with the surviving Telmarine soldiers surrendering.

Before the Pevensies depart Narnia, Peter and Susan are told by Aslan that they have gained everything they could from their experiences in Narnia and will never return. Caspian invites the Telmarines to remain in Narnia if they will coexist peacefully with the Narnians; but if they wish, they can return to the human world, from whence they originally hailed. Some agree to do so, and Aslan creates a portal for them and the four Pevensies. Susan kisses Caspian, knowing they will never meet again. The Pevensies return to England, leaving Caspian as King of Narnia.

Season of the Witch (2011 film)

Posted by Deepak 3:56 PM, under | No comments

Set in the 14th century, three women accused of witchcraft are hanged and then drowned by a priest. He performs rituals to prevent the witches from coming back from the dead, however one of the witches takes on a demonic appearance and kills the priest. Cutting to a hundred years later during the Crusades, knights Behmen (Cage) and Felson (Perlman) choose to desert the war, after seeing women and children mercilessly slaughtered, and return home. They discover the Black Plague has swept across the land and most townspeople believe it was caused by sorcery and the devil. Upon entering a town, Behmen's sword shows his crest and he and Felson are identified as deserters and taken to Cardinal D'Ambroise who is infected with the plague. The Cardinal asks the knights to escort an apparent witch suspected of having caused the plague, to a remote monastery where an elite group of monks reside, capable of determining if the girl is truly a witch; if she is found guilty, these monks also know a sacred ritual that can cancel her powers, and stop the plague that is devastating Europe. The two knights agree, but under one condition, that she will be given a fair trial. The Cardinal agrees, and they set out accompanied by a priest Debelzaq, a young man Kay, a grieving knight Eckhardt whose family were killed by the plague, and the swindler Hagamar who leads the way to the monastery. The witch, a young girl later identified as Anna, shows hatred towards Debelzaq and forms a bond with Behmen.[4]

Shortly after setting off, the group camp for the night where Eckhardt volunteers to watch the witch for the first night. After a while Debelzaq comes to relieve Eckhardt, but decides to stay with him since his tormented thoughts of the death of his family prevent him from sleeping anyway. Eckhardt talks about his daughter Mila, who resembled Anna. As Eckhardt leaves, Anna escapes after attacking Debelzaq from within her cage and flees to a nearby town. During the search for her, Eckhardt has visions of his dead daughter and is accidentally killed by Kay. One man down, the group become less trusting of Anna including Behmen. The group manage to successfully cross a rickety rope bridge, after Anna saves Kay from falling to his death by grabbing him with one hand, showing an unnatural strength. The group enter the dark forest called Wormwood, where Hagamar attempts to kill Anna so the group can go home, only to be stopped by the others. Anna appears to summon wolves, who chase the group and kill Hagamar. An enraged Behmen tries to kill Anna, but is stopped by Felson when the monastery is in sight.[4]

Arriving at the monastery, the men find all of the monks have been killed by the plague but locate the Key of Solomon, an ancient book filled with holy rituals used to defeat evil. The men confront Anna, with Debelzaq beginning to perform a ritual used on witches. However, Anna melts her cage and reveals she has been deceiving them all along, revealing herself to be a male demon using Anna as a vessel. The demon plots to destroy the last version of the book so the evil can be free to cover the world in darkness. While the men prepare for battle against the evil forces, they find a room where the now-dead monks were writing copies of the book. The demon appears, destroys the copies and possesses the monks' bodies to use as weapons. During the fight, the demon kills Debelzaq by breaking his neck and then incinerates Felson. Behmen fights the demon and has Kay finish the exorcism which destroys the demon, but Behmen is mortally wounded and dies shortly after, asking Kay to look after the freed Anna. After making graves for their fallen friends, Kay and Anna depart with the book in hand.

SANCTUM 2011 (JAMES CAMERON)

Posted by Deepak 2:53 PM, under | No comments

In 2009, filmmaker James Cameron released “Avatar”, which has since become the number one film in American box office history. Cameron used a 3D camera system that he helped invent, and while some argue the merits of “Avatar” as a film, no one argues that it was a stunning technical achievement. This new 3D process was immersive and a marvel. It was, also, very lucrative, which meant that, for better or worse, “Avatar” ushered in an era filled with 3D movies.

While this era has produced a few great 3D movies, most have had problems. Some movies like “Clash of the Titans” and “The Last Airbender” did not use Cameron’s technology and just wanted to capitalize on the profitability of 3D. Other films like “Resident Evil: Afterlife” did use the technology, but were poorly made. The new cave-thriller “Sanctum” not only uses the technology made for “Avatar,” but also carries James Cameron’s name as a producer, so it can’t help but be great right? Unfortunately, it can.

Loosely based on a true story, “Sanctum” is the story of a billionaire, played by Ioan Gruffud from “Amazing Grace,” who pays an expert cave exploration team to explore the last unknown cave in the world in Queensland, Australia. They believe that deep in the cave, they can discover a passage to the ocean. As you might have guessed, trouble ensues, communication is lost, and the team is stranded at the bottom of the cave with minimal supplies and must find their way out.

The plot to “Sanctum” is nothing more than a skeleton to hang pounds and pounds of effects on. It reminded me of the old Jackie Chan movies, where the plot was little more than a device that moved the talented Chan from stunt to stunt. Also, it is clear that little time went into the script and character development. For this film to work, the viewer needs to care about the characters and resonate with their plight. Neither of those things happens in the film, and that is thanks to one-dimensional characters and a terrible script that contains laughable dialogue. The only lines in the movie that are not hilarious are those that are intended to be.

The one aspect of “Sanctum” that can be commended is the effects. Emplying the same technology used in “Avatar,” the film bursts on the screen and surrounds the viewer in the world of the characters. If you are a rock climber or deep sea diver, the film delivers an experience that has probably never been seen before on film. “Sanctum” was shot on location in Australia, and viewing this film in IMAX 3D almost made it worth the price of admission. Almost.

Along with being poorly acted, directed, and scripted, “Sanctum” earns its “R” rating with some unnecessary content. While most of the film takes place in a cave, some violence and gore is expected. There are several deaths in the film that are shot up close and are gruesome. From drowning to skin peeling off of bone, the camera lingers, and the viewers see the deaths up close. Also, there are two assisted suicides in the film which raise a completely different set of questions for viewers. Along with the violence, there is one brief shot of a male’s rear end in a scene that is played for humor, but falls flat. Also, strong language is present throughout the film, that includes, but is not limited to, over 20 F words, as well as many uses of God’s name.

“Sanctum” does include a story arc between a father and son that are both in the cave. With some more development, this arc could have been the saving grace of the film. Unfortunately, it isn’t, and the viewer is left with a film that looks great, but is a mess to watch. Outdoor-adventure minded viewers might enjoy “Sanctum,” but for everyone else, there are plenty of other 3D options at the cinema that will gladly take your money.

SALT (Angelina Jollie) Hollywood hit Movie

Posted by Deepak 7:02 PM, under , | No comments

In a prison in North Korea, CIA agent Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is being tortured on suspicion of being an American spy. Released as part of a prisoner exchange, she is collected by fellow agent Ted Winter (Liev Schreiber). Waiting for her is the German arachnologist Michael Krause (August Diehl), who Winter states had campaigned tirelessly for her release. Salt then agrees to marry Krause as a result of his intervention to save her from the ordeal, but she warns him that she works for the CIA and that "he is not safe with her."

Two years later, on Salt's anniversary with Krause, a Russian defector named Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski) arrives at the CIA. During his interrogation, Orlov tells Salt about "Day X", a Russian plot to destroy the United States by using English-speaking sleeper agents trained from birth. Agent "KA-12" will kill the Russian President Boris Matveyev (Olek Krupa) at the funeral of the American vice president. Orlov reveals that KA-12 is named "Evelyn Salt".

Salt, shocked by the accusation, calls her husband because she realizes that he is also in danger; he does not answer. When Winter and Peabody (Chiwetel Ejiofor) decide to detain Salt, she escapes and makes her way back to her apartment building. Finding signs that Michael was kidnapped, Salt takes her weapons and one of Michael's spiders.

After evading CIA pursuit Salt takes a bus from D.C. to a hotel in New York City. While at the hotel she extracts venom from the spider and dyes her hair black. Salt makes her way to St. Bartholomew's Church, where the Vice President's funeral is taking place, evading pursuit and eventually setting off a demolition charge during Matveyev's eulogy. Matveyev falls through the floor and Salt shoots him. She sees Peabody approaching through the rubble but does not shoot him. She surrenders but escapes NYPD custody and takes a boat to see Orlov. On her way, in a series of flashbacks, Salt remembers growing up in the Soviet Union where Orlov trained her and many other children to obey him and infiltrate the American government. Orlov congratulates her on killing Russia's president, but criticizes her decision to marry as it was not part of her mission. Orlov then has Michael killed in front of Salt as a test, but she does not react. He then briefs her on her next mission: the commandeering of the U.S. nuclear arsenal and the assassination of sitting American President Howard Lewis (Hunt Block). Once he has finished, Salt stabs Orlov with a broken vodka bottle and then kills the other agents as well.

Salt continues with Orlov's mission, meeting a fellow KA agent named Shnaider (Corey Stoll), currently disguised as Czech NATO liaison Edvard Tomas. The two of them infiltrate the White House, where Shnaider sets off a suicide bomb, causing the President to be moved to the lower bunker, with Salt in hot pursuit. With everybody's attention focused on Salt, Winter kills everyone in the bunker except for President Lewis, whom he knocks unconscious, thus revealing himself to also be a Russian sleeper agent. He then takes over the defense computers enabled by the President, and begins preparations to launch nuclear missiles at Mecca and Tehran. Salt manages to penetrate the bunker, reuniting with Winter and realizing he is also a KA agent. Salt asks to join Winter, but he refuses after seeing news that prove Salt's duplicity: Matveyev is alive. His mistakenly-reported death was actually a temporary paralysis caused by spider venom. Salt manages to break into control room, where she fights Winter over the nuclear football; during the fight, Winter criticizes Salt for falling for Krause instead of trying to recruit him to their cause, and reveals he arranged for Orlov's appearance and Krause's kidnapping. Salt eventually aborts the launch, but is arrested by Secret Service. On the way out of the White House, Salt manages to use the chain of her handcuffs to choke and kill Winter.

Salt is put on a helicopter with Peabody and she explains everything to him; because "they took everything from her" she wants revenge. Salt also tells Peabody that there are "many more" remaining agents trained by Orlov. A skeptical Peabody eventually accepts she is telling the truth after receiving an SMS saying that Salt's fingerprints were found at the barge, confirming her betrayal of Orlov. Peabody uncuffs Salt, and tells her to "Go get'em!" before she jumps into the Potomac River.

Resident Evil Afterlife 3D Hollywood hit Movie

Posted by Deepak 6:59 PM, under | No comments

Directed By: Paul W.S. Anderson

Starring: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe, Wentworth Miller, Kacey Barnfield, Norman Yeung

Thanks to Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Extinction, there are no high hopes for the franchise’s fourth installment, Afterlife. Even the promotional material highlights the fact that this is going to be just more of the same and sure enough, more of the same is exactly what we’re getting. There’s tacky dialogue, underdeveloped characters, poorly constructed plot points and utterly ridiculous stunts, but Milla Jovovich is back as Alice and just like in Resident Evil, Apocalypse and Extinction, even as the film crumbles around her, she’s still captivating.

Resident Evil: Afterlife kicks off right where Extinction left off; Alice (Jovovich) has gotten acquainted with her clones and now she’s making due on her promise to destroy the Umbrella Corporation, the company responsible for the creation of the T-virus, the substance that causes the infection. After devastating Umbrella’s underground Tokyo facility, the real Alice attempts to reunite with her friends from Extinction, Claire (Ali Larter) and K-Mart (Spencer Locke). The problem is, upon arriving at the supposed safe haven, Arcadia, Alaska, Alice finds only a field full of abandoned planes, a barren beach and a rather maniacal and memory-less Claire. Claire somewhat comes to her senses while she and Alice fly aimlessly looking for, well, anything.

While soaring over Los Angeles, they catch a glimpse of a group of people calling for help on the roof of a prison. After a risky landing, the duo receives a briefing and ultimately learns that Arcadia isn’t a place; it’s a boat. In fact, they can see the boat in the distance. The trouble is, they’ve got no way of reaching it for the prison gates are swarming with undead.

Afterlife’s multiple Jovovich opening is quite impressive. Half the fun of these films is seeing Jovovich pull off impossible stunts while annihilating hordes of zombies. Multiply that by about a dozen Alices and you get a fantastically deadly sequence. The sad thing is that once the Umbrella raid comes to a close, Afterlife turns into a completely different movie.

You’re instantly detached from everything that happened in the opening once Alice arrives in Alaska and, minus a minor scuffle with Claire, the film is basically devoid of action for quite a while as well. In fact, up until this point, save for a brief introductory show-and-tell during which a woman indulges in human flesh, we’ve yet to see a zombie. Things start to look up as we find ourselves in a new situation involving a group of survivors who’ll ultimately be killed off one-by-one. If only those characters weren’t so generic, perhaps that initial excitement would have had a lingering effect, but no.

In addition to Claire and Alice, we’re trapped in the prison with a cliché stuck-up film producer (Kim Coates), his loyal intern (Norman Yeung), a buff basketball star (Boris Kodjoe), a wannabe actress who, you probably guessed it, wound up waiting tables (Kacey Barnfield), an expendable character who’s quite obviously the first to go (Fulvio Cecere) and an incarcerated Wentworth Miller. This is easily the worst portion of the film not only because there’s zero fighting, but because the characters are so weak and some of the performances are downright laughable. Much of the time in the prison is spent chatting and when you’re submerged in conversations involving uninteresting characters, odds are, what they’re discussing is just as mundane. Miller makes for a fine action hero, but when the guy attempts to display emotion, whether it be that of a potentially dangerous killer or a loving brother just reunited with his sister, he either takes it way too far or falls flat entirely. Even worse is Shawn Roberts’ comically over-the-top portrayal of Umbrella’s #1, Albert Wesker

It isn’t until the safety of the prison is threatened that we finally get some of what drew folks to the series to begin with, zombie killing. Well, actually, I don’t know if they quite classify as zombies anymore. Now we’re dealing with mutations, mutations with tentacles coming out of their mouths. There are a handful of notable sequences the best of which involve Alice jumping off the roof with flying zombies decorating the background and a battle between Claire and some massive axe-wielding beast that’s thrown into the mix with zero explanation. Of course leaping off of walls, jumping a ridiculous amount of feet in the air and swimming underwater for at least five minutes is utterly absurd, but when it’s at the expense of some action, it’s easily digestible.

While these moments are enthralling and impressively choreographed, they’re still not enough to offset the irrational plot. Everything is just so poorly developed. Afterlife feels as though it’s three different movies mashed into one. You’ve got Alice’s battle against Umbrella, the jail element and a third portion of the film, which I won’t spoil, and they’re all just thrown together as though they’ll naturally flow without an effort. Sure, using tomandandy’s quite appropriate booming score gets you pumped moving from one part to the next, but all it takes is a moment of second thought to realize that what just happened, didn’t make a bit of sense.

After the film I spoke with a few people who are familiar with the videogame and apparently, Resident Evil: Afterlife is more of a gamer’s movie than the last three. Seeing characters and beasts from the game pop up on screen is likely exciting for diehard RE players, but when there’s zero explanation with the references’ arrival, they’re just confusing to the rest. Looking at the plot alone, Afterlife is a massive failure, however, there’s no denying that the film holds your attention. The dialogue-heavy moments drag quite a bit, but between the pounding score and effect-heavy action scenes, Afterlife passes as an entertaining Jovovich show and gory bloodbath.

Piranha 3d Hollywood Hit

Posted by Deepak 5:42 PM, under | No comments

Directed By: Alexandre Aja

Starring: Elisabeth Shue, Steven R. McQueen, Jerry O’Connell, Jessica Szohr, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook, Riley Steele, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Brooklynn Proulx, Sage Ryan

I like campy horror flicks - a lot, probably too much. Piranha 3D looked to be everything I’d fall for; I’m a huge fan of director Alexandre Aja’s The Hills Have Eyes, thought writers Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg’s last film, Sorority Row, was a ton of fun and am always eager to check out new and more grotesque ways of killing off characters. The problem is, Piranha lacks the fear and emotion of The Hills Have Eyes, isn’t half as witty as Sorority Row and almost entirely consists of the same kill over and over. It’s a good thing Piranha only clocks in at 89 minutes because that’s all it’s worth.

It’s spring break and the small town of Lake Victoria is a prime spot for those looking for a party. When the hordes of big-boobed, booze-guzzling students arrive, so does the entertainment like the wet t-shirt contest MC played by Eli Roth and pornographic moviemaker Derrick Jones (Jerry O’Connell) and his Wild Wild Girls, Danni and Crystal (Kelly Brook and Riley Stelle). Meanwhile, Sheriff Julie Forester (Elisabeth Shue) is just trying to keep the peace while her oldest son, Jake (Steven R. McQueen), keeps an eye on her little ones, Laura and Zane (Brooklynn Proulx and Sage Ryan).

Everyone’s plans change when an earthquake creates an underwater passageway to a lake beneath Lake Victoria releasing its inhabitants, hordes of man-eating piranha. Now rowdy partiers are the least of Julie’s problems. With the help of her deputy (Ving Rhames) and a visiting marine paleontologist (Adam Scott), she’s got to save as many spring breakers as possible before the piranha eat them up.

The premise is fantastic and Piranha 3D starts off in the best way possible, with a very old looking Richard Dreyfuss caught out in a fishing boat during the quake. From there, it’s really just a jumble of boobs, alcohol, creepy fish and a whole lot of blood, which is exactly what most would expect. But what’s also excepted of films of any kind is a decent story and beyond Piranha’s premise, there isn’t much there. Every character has his or her tale, but nobody makes a decent connection.

The ones who come closest to being involved in an endearing subplot are Jake and the girl he’s always had a crush on, Kelly (Jessica Szohr). Jake is supposed to be babysitting his younger brother and sister, but pays them off so he can be Derrick’s location scout. On the way to Derrick’s boat, Jake bumps into Kelly, Derrick takes one look at her and invites her aboard. Neither delivers a particularly impressive performance, but amidst all of the carnage and soft-core porn, their minimal chemistry is really the only source of emotion to latch on to. Kids are inherently cute, so regardless of some irritating banter, both Proulx and Ryan make nice additions as Jake’s siblings. They show off a more notable degree of chemistry when they opt to take their small boat and row out to an island to fish and wind up stranded when they forget to secure the vessel.

Unfortunately, Shue doesn’t fair as well. It’s too bad because she does a great job with what she’s given; if only her character wasn’t reduced to the standard strict cop clichés. The same goes for Brook and Steele, but mainly Steele. She’s stuck alongside O’Connell who’s easily the film’s most annoying character and gets completely sucked into his over the top shtick. Brook, on the other hand, solidifies herself as a winner during her very first moment on screen. She shares a nice chat with McQueen and manages to maintain enough of a distance from the whole Wild Wild Girls thing to remain likeable throughout. O’Connell is really a killer, more so than those piranha. Yes, he’s supposed to be a formulaic, sex-obsessed, hyped up director, but he takes it way too far and it just becomes bothersome.

Another element that will likely rub some the wrong way are the visuals. First up is the excessive amount of boobs. Okay, guys like to see a nice set of jugs – real or fake – but what about all of the ladies seeing this film? Boobs are fine, but there was no need to include so much nakedness that Piranha would feel like a legitimate porno. Now for the gore. Some of it is downright fantastic. It’s sad to see Ricardo Chavira and Dina Meyer wasted in such minimal roles, but they bite it in an incredible scene. Then there’s the piranha attack on party central at Lake Victoria. You’ve got people with holes in their backs, some missing limbs, others getting chopped in half and it all looks gorgeous. The only problem is that there is so much bloodshed and so many shots of piranha chomping at swimmers that after the big moment, you’ve had enough. But this is a movie about man-eating piranha, so where do you go from there? Nowhere. You just endure more of the same. It’s a cool kill for a while, but grows old fast.

Lastly, yet again, the use of the third dimension is weak. Normally the criticism stems from the fact that it was used in a gimmicky fashion, unnecessarily flinging obscure objects at the audience, but here that doesn’t happen. In fact, nothing really pops out at you at all. The only items that look noticeably good in terms of the technology are the title and opening credits.

Piranha isn’t all that bad, but it’s not as fun as expected. I much prefer Goldfinger and Stolberg’s last film Sorority Row. Now that was a blast. There was still a lot of nakedness and crude humor, but it was a much more engaging story, ten times scarier and absolutely hilarious. Piranha would be passable if it was more frightening, but so much attention is paid to the crude humor and nudity they completely dissolve every element with the potential to be terrifying, leaving us with only a few cheap pop-up-out-of-nowhere scares

Narnia lion the witch and the wardrobe Movie

Posted by Deepak 4:32 PM, under | No comments

At last, the Pevensies have reached the silver screen. What a joy to see Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy—the four siblings of C. S. Lewis's beloved The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe—brought to life so vividly. After all of the rumors, the fretting about literary fidelity, and the angst about religious agendas, we can praise director Andrew Adamson and his fine young actors for developing these "Sons of Adam" and "Daughters of Eve" into three-dimensional, engaging characters.

There they stand, at a train stop in the middle of nowhere, luggage in hand, fidgety and nervous. Their mother has sent them away from bomb-blasted London due to the Nazi threat, and they're on their way to a safer place in the country. Wasn't someone from the mansion of Professor Kirke supposed to meet them here and take them away to their new wartime refuge?

But they're no more nervous than Lewis's countless fans who worried about a faithful adaptation. Could Adamson pull it off? Would the film measure up to the hype and expectations? Are these Pevensies like the children of the book? And above all—did they get Aslan right?
Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Peter (William Moseley) at the London train station

Back at the train stop, watching the road for any sign of help, young Edmund frowns, checks his I.D. tag, and says, "Perhaps we've been incorrectly labeled."

Indeed. Many mainstream journalists have treated the movie as a sort of pending terrorist attack, but this movie cannot be dismissed, like so many preachy "Christian films," as religious propaganda. And the anxious faithful can relax, as Adamson has done no serious injury to the narrative's basic outline of sacrifice and redemption. "The lion's share" of Lewis's meaningful story remains intact.

Adamson, who also directed the Shrek films, was never much interested in the religious implications of Lewis's narrative. He, like Lewis, was caught up in the wild imagination of a timeless fairy tale, which happens to be full of references to the pagan mythology that Lewis found so rich with reflections of the truth. The film, which was made under the watchful eye of Lewis's stepson Douglas Gresham, is best enjoyed as a symphonic and delightful fantasy. It's a kaleidoscopic vision of fanciful and colorful creatures, fantastic landscapes, and laugh-out-loud surprises.
Into the Wardrobe

The film literally opens with a bang, as Adamson smartly starts by depicting the German air raids on London. In that chaos, Adamson establishes the Pevensies' four distinct personalities and temperaments in quick, efficient strokes, even before the train carries them out of London.
Lucy's wide-eyed wonder is a joy to behold

Once inside the mansion of the mysterious Professor Kirke (Jim Broadbent, perfectly cast), Adamson unfortunately skips their exhilarating exploration. He's too eager for the hide-and-seek game that sends Lucy burrowing into the coat-stuffed gateway to Narnia's wonders.

What happens next is one of the most enchanting sequences in the history of fantasy filmmaking. For a few minutes, everything is exactly as it should be. Mothballs. Fur coats. Snow crunching underfoot. Prickly needles of evergreen. This chapter is lifted beautifully from Lewis's description, ushering us into his wonderland with exquisite grace.

Here, young Georgie Henley, playing the role of Lucy, reveals that she's the film's greatest treasure. If eyes are windows to the soul, Henley's soul is super-sized. Without her vibrant personality and mischievous grin, Narnia would lose its lifeblood. She makes Lucy's awe and delight contagious. (Her glee is quite real: In a stroke of genius, Adamson arranged for Henley to be carried onto the dazzling wintry set blindfolded, and the cameras caught her actual response to its beauty.)

Lucy, still wide-eyed with wonder, then meets Mr. Tumnus the faun, played by James McAvoy. In an endearing turn, McAvoy gives the faun delicate humor and a haunted heart, and his interaction with Lucy is both charming and portentous.

Adamson gives each child a clear and separate journey. Lucy will lead them, as fairy-tale children so often do, into a world of discovery, and her faith will be richly blessed. Susan (Anna Popplewell) will learn that logic and "too much thinking" can prevent her from apprehending miracles. Peter (William Moseley) is insecure and easily exasperated, whereas in the book he was a natural leader; like Peter Jackson's melancholic Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, he must rise to seize a sword and lead the charge against evil.

Golmaal 3 Hindi Movie

Posted by Deepak 4:04 PM, under | No comments

Golmaal 3, unfortunately, is a disappointing movie given that huge expectations had developed amongst the zealous fans of this franchisee. It may invite some chuckles, may be even some hysterical guffaws but in the end the comedy incorporated in here is mindless and borders around absurdity. But then, if you go looking for sense in any no-brainer by Rohit Shetty, then the joke is on you, dear friend!

Main Story Line : Pritam (Mithun Chakraborty) drives a school bus for a living and he has three adopted sons – Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) and Laxman (Kunal Kemu). Geeta alias Guddi (Ratna Pathak Shah) has two children, both adopted – Gopal (Ajay Devgan) and Laxman (Shreyas Talpade). Daboo (Kareena Kapoor) is Gopal’s girlfriend.

Gopal is a hot-headed guy whose temper spells danger. A raised finger at him is all that it takes to instigate him. Brother Laxman stammers while talking. Madhav, Lucky and Laxman keep borrowing money and losing it in suspect business ventures. Lucky has a speech problem – he can’t speak. The path of Gopal and Laxman cross that of the three brothers in such circumstances that they become sworn enemies. Even as they can’t see eye to eye, Pritam and Geeta meet by accident, and their love gets rekindled. Daboo realises that Pritam and Geeta, who were in love during their youth, still love one another. Since they are both unmarried, Daboo takes it upon herself to get them united in matrimony. But will the five sons approve of this alliance?

Does Daboo succeed in her endeavour? What is the response of the five sons? There’s an additional track of Pappi (Johny Lever) who has memory lapses every now and then. He had stolen the queen’s necklace and had hidden it in Pritam’s bag while he was on the run from the police on the hunt for the jewel thief. Pappi, who has forgotten all about the whereabouts of the necklace, finances Pritam’s three children in their business enterprise. Does Pappi get the necklace back?

The third in the Golmaal series, this one is a farcical comedy without much of a story. Inspired by the television serial, Family No. 1, and the film, Khatta Meetha (old), it is more of an assemblage of funny sequences pieced together in a screenplay by writer Yunus Sajawal. As the story line is thin and not even new or fresh, the emphasis is more on creating laughter in individual scenes. While the attempt is successful upto a point, the monotony in the drama and the lack of an engrossing story hit the audience, especially after interval. No doubt, some scenes in the first half and a few after interval are absolutely hilarious and bring the house down with laughter, but then, there are also scenes which are designed to evoke laughter and fail. Writer Yunus Sajawal’s biggest flaw is the addition of the emotional track in the story. That’s because while the emotions fail to touch the heart and activate the tear ducts, the track robs the film of the comedy which has, actually, come to become the mainstay of the Golmaal films. So, while the emotional aspect fails to have the desired impact, it does rob the film of its USP – comedy!

Mithun shines in his role and even the others do their bit but the dearth of a quality script strikes a deathblow to the film. Given that the public are immersed in Diwali festivities, the film may earn sufficient footfalls and revenue but by next Diwali, this one shall be forlorn and forgotten.

7 KHOON MAAF HINDI MOVIE 2011

Posted by Deepak 6:16 PM, under | No comments

Vishal Bhardwaj's films always have a different story to tell, be it Omkara, Makdee, Maqbool or Kaminey. His films are usually high on content. His "7 Khoon Maaf" is based on Ruskin Bond's 'Susanne's Seven Husbands'. It is a dark thriller about an incorrigible serial spouse-killer, Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes (Priyanka). She is a beautiful young girl, who ties the knot seven times, following the mysterious and untimely deaths of her hapless husbands. Priyanka's character ages from 20 to 65 years in this movie and it is unquestionably the role of a lifetime. This story happens in a sprawling house and at a time when there were butlers, maids and housekeepers. When you could ride horses in the farm and have cobras as pets. Your backyard also has a graveyard ! Vishal narrates the story with the help of radio, television and newspaper headlines to reveal the year in which we are. Bhardwaj's directorial skills and Priyanka's acting prowess have garnered good reviews even from the critics. Priyanka Chopra plays the Anglo-Indian protagonist

SALLUBHAI BRINGS IT BACK... It's been a long time in bollywood since a movie came with the masala of the old days where the fight between good and bad takes place in a small town or village... All the movies from the recent years action thriller to a romantic love story took place in Australia U.S or some other foreign country with all those mafia styled wars and stuff but "DABANGG" takes us back to the old times.. There is nothing new in the story it is just like some other Dharmendhra or Amithabh bachan old movies in the village with a happy ending but this movie looks like a brand new and cool bottle with lot of plus points where Salman's look is the most important one of them... The story is about Chulbul Pandey(Salman khan) whose father passes away when he is 2 yrs old and his mother gets married to Prajapathi pandey (vinodh kanna) and they also have a kid Makkhanlal pandey (Arbaaz khan). Chulbul is not very happy about how his father treats him so he decides to change the situation when he gets up 0n his feet. 21yrs later Chulbul becomes a cop and the whole situation changes
